Review: In continuing with my piecemeal review(s) of the latest unfortunate good idea/bad execution restaurant in Chicago’s Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood, we will visit a dish that tastes pretty good.

This simple triangle of filo and cheese could have been freshly made or frozen, but its lack of greasy residue makes me think that it is the former. With just a hint of buttery flavor mingling with the delicate feta cheese, robust spinach and subtle spices, Mana Food Bar’s spanakopita makes for a satisfying snack with one problem… The price.

Though served with a tasty fresh side of greens, I still think $8.00 for a modest appetizer is just a bit too pricey. Everything works, but you will pay and the next time you are at the local Greek greasy spoon corner diner, you won’t mind the puddle of butter left on your plate by their equal sized $3.00 spinach pie.
