O Organics Vegetable Broth (32 oz.)

Item Purchased: O Organics Vegetable Broth (32 oz.)
Location Purchased: Dominick’s / 3140 S. Ashland / Chicago, IL

Review: O Organics (Dominick’s organic line of foods) seems to enjoy offering somewhat healthier choices at reasonable prices. The one downside of this is a lot of their products are packaged for families and not for guys who just like to cook instead of grab White Castle, like me. I don’t usually mind this, but with something such as vegetable broth, it is hard for me to use 32 oz. in ten days. I don’t make a lot of soups or other dishes that call for broth, yet I am stuck with this huge cardboard container of flavoring agent. Perhaps I will start boiling my rice in a vegetable broth/water mixture to use the excess.

The flavor of O Organics vegetable broth is a lot better than I expected. Most vegetable broths (especially canned ones) are loaded with salt. It is as if the carnivores at the broth factories don’t know how to make up for the missing chicken flavor, so they just add salt until just sniffing at the broth’s air dehydrates them. Not so with O Organics. Instead, this broth offers a surprisingly mild and complex flavor. Friends have told me that the flavor is still too salty for them, but I am a guy who was raised to put salt on everything. I may not have done well in biblical times, but at least I am well prepared for vegetable broth tasting.
