Review: Another day, another crepe.
To be honest, I’m not too hot on savory crepes. As a result, I haven’t really tried all that many. I prefer my French street food sweet. Still, in the spirit of hitting the new local joint for lunch, I thought I’d give it a shot for Momi’s.
Like all good street food, Momi’s vegetarian crepe is simple. Crepe dough, mushrooms, swiss and provolone cheese are the base ingredients. From there, it’s up to you to add ingredients from a simple list of sandwich fixin’s. I chose tomatoes and the woman behind the counter convinced me to try brown mustard slathered inside.
Though I’m still not a fan of savory crepes, the slight sweetness of the crepe dough brought out a unique flavor experience in what would have been a boring piece of bread with a bunch of vegetables thrown on it at any other establishment. The mustard did add a much welcomed bite to the crepe, furthering my belief that the people working at Momi’s are worth your time. Though I left my lunch table quite full and satisfied, I couldn’t help thinking that an egg or some other type of vegetarian protein would have made this meal even better.
Don’t worry, Momi’s, my personal crepe bias won’t keep me from coming back to try the other dishes you have to offer.
