Review: I have this need to pump as much of my limited discretionary income into a new local business when I find one. Regarding Momi’s Cafe, though, I am not always in the mood for a sandwich or crepe. Something I am always in the mood for happens to be coffee! Still, I am a bit picky when it comes to coffee. Sure, I settle for Au Bon Pain on most days, but to me, this is like choosing to breathe in smog-filled air when you live in L.A. It’s a bare-minimum survivalist instinct.
No longer must I suffer the inadequate caffeination that comes from location and convenience. I can, once again, be choosy and satisfied all at once.
Momi’s Cafe not only serves a deeply complex and flavorful brew, but finishes the equation by supporting organically grown, fair trade coffees supplied by Cafe Fair. Shade grown, and delicious, I can actually smile instead of just raising an eyebrow at the smell of my morning cup. Though I am not quite sure which blend Momi’s uses, I can say that the coffee is a medium roast with a sharp edged flavor that becomes smooth on the way down. Earthy tones and a crisp clean finish makes this a cup of coffee that doesn’t linger, but isn’t forgotten.
Best of all, I am not grumbling about substandard coffee all day long. Instead, I am awakened and able to delight in the knowledge that local friendly places like Momi’s Cafe can still exist… and by the looks of it, thrive.
