Consumer Bites: 05/21/08

  • Wal-Mart has launched a personal finance website where you can find information about saving money and several of Wal-Mart’s own fee-based financial services. Ugh… (link via Consumerist)
  • Congratulations to the former middle class of America! You are now on food stamps! (link)
  • Chicago is holding a second food festival for those of you who aren’t on food stamps yet. It features gourmet food from local fine dining restaurants and over 150 wines. Tickets are only $150/day, which would feed the average American family on food stamps for a week. (link)
  • Hey, check it out! You can now bid on e-bay for one of the contestants from Top Chef Chicago. If you win, Spike will cook for you and some friends using your ingredients and suggestions. I’ll save up my money until I can get Dale or Lisa and see what they can do with three packs of oriental flavor ramen and a jar of Jiffy. Then, when they screw it up, I’m going to claim reality show ignorance and scream at them like Gordon Ramsay. (link)
