Consumer Bites: 05/20/08

  • The above is a picture of the bicycle-centric bed & breakfast where I spent my birthday weekend with my girlfriend. With a 35 mile bike ride through the country and a jacuzzi, it was equally exhilarating and relaxing. I highly recommend Earth Rider for any of you, whether you are bike enthusiasts or just looking for a quiet weekend away from it all. (link)
  • On our bike ride, we happened to come across an Amish grocery store that sold mostly slightly expired and dented foods for extremely cheap. I wish there were more stores like this. Especially after reading this NYT article about wasted food in America. (link)
  • Posted on Boing Boing Gadgets today: A small grocery store in Milwaukee, WI boasts a 1970’s style “lounge” complete with a functional Atari 7800 and a collection of historically crappy games. I used to pop into Koppa’s when I was a film student in Milwaukee. They never had anything this cool when I was there. Just Surge cola and Twizzlers. (link)
