Review: As some of you already know, I am from Wisconsin, which makes me a natural expert in all things cheesy. So, when I bit into this hunk of grocery store coagulate, the last thing I was expecting was something that made me stop in my tracks and question when I last stepped into a cheese shop.
Though a bit waxy, the flavor from this pepperjack cheese is surprisingly dense and earthy. Unlike most pepperjacks found in your local super mega mart, it actually tasted like what it purported to be, and not just some cheap mozzarella with red pepper flakes sprinkled in it. This cheese has a bite and a complexity. I wonder if I should stock up before the staid and stale tastes of most Dominick’s shoppers forces this one off the shelf.
There are better cheeses out there… Much better… but for $5.00, this isn’t so bad. In fact, it crosses into the realm of quite good.
