Review: Pasta made from potatoes and wheat? That’s not pasta! That’s a dumpling! The word gnocchi even means dumplings in Italian. So why do these vacuum sealed nuggets of potatoey goodness get shelved with the macaroni, fettuccine and farfalle? That, my friends, is one of those chicken and egg questions that just can’t be answered.
The question that can be answered is: Are these dried and vacuum sealed convenience foods any good? In short, yes. In long, these potato and wheat gnocchi are surprisingly tasty and easy to make. Just place these puppies in boiling water for a few minutes, drain and top with your favorite sauce, and you will have a substantial meal that doesn’t taste too pasty or flavorless. The wheat used in these dumplings adds a satisfying nutty taste to what would otherwise be a condensed potato.
Well worth the price, I plan on purchasing these affordable gnocchi again soon.
