Review: The plan was to take the Halsted bus (using my brand new transit card) down to the Jewel on 30th and Halsted, pick up one of those dishwashing scrubber/sponges with the handle that holds soap in it so that the sponge automatically soaps itself, then the dishes. This has been my preferred way of washing dishes ever since I was a child, and the one I have had for quite some time finally scrubbed away until there was nothing but a plastic soap tube left.
After waiting for the Halsted bus for nearly thirty f%#$@ minutes in the freezing cold (literally freezing… our neighbor’s swimming pool could now double as an ice skating rink), I decided to pop into 7-Eleven to warm up and see what kind of sponges they had.
Luckily, they had one of these overpriced tools on the shelf.
The Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge would be little more than a normal sponge if it weren’t for the thin layer of what resembles an air filter on one side which can be used to scrub those hard to reach dishes… or anything really. It’s no soap-handle scrubber, but it will have to do.
Little did I know, that this sponge already comes loaded with a very strong, bleach-smelling soap inside of it. To get rid of that soap and make room for the trusted dish soap my roommate and I use, I had to soak and squeeze this sponge for five minutes or so. After that, it worked great to clean my dishes! To be fair, this sponge is not supposed to be used for dishes (it even says so on the package), but I’m not used to the cold this year yet (stupid weather keeps changing more than a superhero), so it’s all I have and that pile of dishes isn’t going to clean itself. Maybe this weekend I will get a dish-washing sponge and then I can use this thing to clean my bathroom or something.

P.S. How do you all like my new pen&paper camera?
