Review: Jeezuz, I need to go grocery shopping. I am beginning to slip back into my old winter ways of hitting up the local convenience store for a breakfast sandwich to start my day. Nothing says “Hello World!” like a palette load of nitrates.
[sigh]
While it is true that these convenient little soggy sandwiches that are kept by the front counter in a small case resembling a dorm-room space heater are not the healthiest option for breakfast, I do love them so. Call me odd, but there is something about a microwave-poached egg and melted American cheese that just has a way of making one think of simpler times. Times when fried breakfast food didn’t make you lethargic later in the morning, and even if it did, you could take a nap because, screw it, your mom would wake you up before your cartoons came on.
The english muffin in these sandwiches exist in an ex-toasted soft state of being and has a slight buttery taste. The egg is mostly white and the sausage has a bit of a spicy kick to it, though not enough where the people around you will cower in fear of passing out.
I have to be careful to not fall into the habit of eating these every day again like I did last year with the coffee-shop breakfast sandwiches, but every once in a while, this junk is an essential part of my diet.
